My First Definition

 Hi Everyone,

So I would like to begin with the basics here and a very quick introduction. My name is Casper or Dylan. I respond to both so refer to me by either of those names and we will be golden! This is not my first time in OBDF 310; last time I was juggling too much and absolutely bombed the course. After a great amount of time beating myself up as we all do in those lovely moments of life I am back to take another shot at it.
Inherently I have always claimed to not be good with anything to do with computers and for that reason combined with my previous experience. I am here to firmly grasp the basics of what is possible with parameters in Grasshopper. So that being said I do not expect and you should not expect that I know more than any of you, nor will I be much help to anyone..... Well except for myself, and a couple other people, none of whom you know. Rant over....

After going through the basic tutorials provided by David Rutton on how to use Grasshopper with Rhino. I decided to lean into this idea of these fun coloured tent like structures we see here. This came about after using the gradients to provide visual data of the height of the bi-arcs we were told to create in the first 8 lessons provided by David. After having done that I added planar surfaces to them and rewired the gradients through the planar surfaces. I only had a few thoughts while doing this.

A) This simple program that covers the basics reminds me of the architecture we now see in many areas of our city or a lot in festivals and carnivals

B) This would be amazing to take my kids skateboarding, biking or rollerblading underneath it.

C) These look also like amoebas that are funky-coloured and groovy. (No I'm not from or in the/my 60's.... and yes I just described it as groovy and funky.)

and most importantly....

D) I think I have a firm understanding of what I was actually doing and not just faking it until I make it this time around. Still a lil unsure but my questions from doing this will be much more specific and I hope that some part of this. Whether it be my personable writing style or the rendered images makes somebodies day, a bit more colourful or bright and cheery.

Anyways, until next time..... Namaste!
